Advert description
I’m a calm, SEN-aware GCSE English tutor with nearly a decade of experience working across schools supporting students. I specialise in helping anxious, neurodivergent and often “switched-off” students who feel overwhelmed by English or lost in large classrooms. My goal is simple: make GCSE English feel clear, manageable and achievable, one step at a time.
Lessons are 1:1 online and usually 60 minutes. We’ll start with a quick check-in and a recap so you’re not thrown straight into something stressful. I break topics down into small, understandable chunks and use a mix of examples, model answers and exam-style questions so you can see exactly what the exam boards are looking for. Together we’ll work on reading skills, language and structure analysis, writing clearly and effectively, and building strong, repeatable approaches to exam questions.
I’m neurodivergent myself and I’m also studying Child Psychology and counselling, so I understand how anxiety, attention and overwhelm can affect learning. Sessions are paced to suit you: plenty of reassurance, no shaming, and lots of opportunities to ask questions and try things out without fear of “getting it wrong”. If you’ve had a rough time in school, we’ll rebuild confidence first, then focus on grades.
Whether you’re trying to move from a 3 to a 4/5, push up to a higher grade, or simply pass English so you can move on to college, work or training, I’ll work with you to set realistic goals and a clear plan. If you think this sounds like what you need, get in touch and we can arrange a free, no-pressure chat to see if we’re a good fit.
