I have a BMus (Hons) in music, PGCE in teaching and Masters in Theatre and Drama. I studied at the Royal College of Music, Cambridge University and Guildford School of Acting.

I have been fortunate to work in many genres and areas of education. Teaching for different exam boards for extra curricular activies as well, including The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London College of Music and Rockschool. I have been teaching for over 20 years and through that time I have worked with pupils from age 3 to adult. In many subjects but with a focus on music and science.

Working with young pupils is an incredibly rewarding experience. At the Dixie Junior School it was my responsibility to build up the music department, almost from scratch, it took time but the children’s achievements were considerable. The scheme of work was planned to allow the pupils to be well-prepared for KS3 and if they choose to in the future, GCSE. As well as writing a scheme of work that allowed pupils to clearly progress through the key stages I encouraged pupils to take part in extracurricular clubs. I think it is important for children to take part in extracurricular activities and ensembles; this gives them the chance to further develop their music skills. and working with friends inspires young people to succeed and often encourages others to take part.

I have also taught science at Secondary level with a focus on Biology. More recently I have been responsible for developing music in a trust of primary schools and then working as a classroom teacher teaching the primary curriculum in KS2. Currently I am Programme Lead for a Music Degree at Leicester College but I am looking for a little but of extra online work.
