Maths tutor with 2 years’ experience offering primary school, GCSE and A-Level maths tutoring online or in-person.

Having achieved a first-class honours in BSc Mathematics with Finance from the University of Liverpool, Grade A in A-Level Mathematics, Grade B in A-level Physics and a Grade 9 in GCSE Mathematics, I bring a strong academic foundation. I am looking to use this to tutor A-Level, GCSE and primary Mathematics as well as GCSE Physics either online or in-person. For two years, I worked as a Peer Assisted Learning Leader at the University of Liverpool, supporting undergraduate students through complex mathematics modules. I helped them to develop their ability to break down challenging concepts with clarity and encouragement. In this role, I developed key strengths in diagnosing student misconceptions through active listening and targeted questioning. This created a supportive learning environment that builds long-term confidence. Each student is different with tutoring presenting the perfect opportunity for the student’s learning style and pace to be accounted for. In the sessions, we will use the following to maximise learning. We will review previously learnt material to ensure that learning moves to long-term memory. Secondly, we will introduce new concepts in small steps to ensure understanding is clear before taking on more difficult content. Thirdly, we will be modelling problem solving and thinking aloud so that my student understands the problem-solving thought process. Throughout, I will be asking lots of questions to gauge understanding and challenge misconceptions through guided practice. Then, the student can move on to independent practice more confident than before.
