Advert description
Hi, I'm Kai. I work full-time as a technician at a college, so I'm around education every day and have a real appreciation for how people learn differently. Maths has always been a subject I've genuinely enjoyed — I find it satisfying in a way that's hard to explain — but I also know not everyone feels that way. I've seen plenty of people hit a wall with it and start to believe they're just "not a maths person." I don't think that's true — usually it's just a case of not having it explained in a way that clicks.
I've always been the person friends and family come to when they're stuck with something, and I have a knack for breaking things down clearly without making anyone feel stupid for not getting it first time. Whether you're a primary school child falling behind, a teenager preparing for GCSEs, or an adult working towards Functional Skills — I'm patient, straightforward, and genuinely want to see you improve.
I believe the best way to learn maths is to actually understand it — not just memorise steps and hope for the best on exam day. My approach is to break things down into plain language, work through problems together step by step, and make sure you genuinely grasp the "why" behind what you're doing before moving on. I adapt how I explain things based on how each student learns — some people need visual examples, some need to talk it through, and some just need to see it done a few different ways before it clicks. There's no single right way to learn, and I'm patient enough to find what works for you.
Every lesson starts with a quick check on how you're feeling about the topic and what's been tricky since last time. From there, we work through new concepts together, and I'll set short practice questions during the lesson so I can see where you're confident and where we need to spend more time. I also like to end each session with a clear summary of what we covered so nothing gets lost.
