My Skills and Experience
As a native Korean speaker who spent 13 years living in the United States, I understand firsthand the challenges and triumphs of mastering a new language. Over the past four years, I have successfully tutored students in language acquisition, helping them bridge the gap between their native tongue and their new target language. Because I am fully bilingual and have navigated the journey to fluency myself, I know exactly how to explain complex Korean grammar and vocabulary using clear, relatable English comparisons. My personal experience learning a second language allows me to anticipate where you might get stuck, build your confidence, and make the learning process feel both accessible and deeply rewarding.
How I Will Teach You
My teaching philosophy is simple: learning a language should be practical, natural, and highly relevant to your life. Rather than just making you memorize robotic textbook phrases, I focus heavily on how Koreans actually speak in the real world. I will help you grasp the subtle cultural nuances, context-specific vocabulary, and politeness levels that instantly make your Korean sound more natural and authentic. Every single lesson we have will be customized to your personal goals, whether you are starting from the absolute basics of reading Hangul, preparing for a trip to Seoul, or hoping to understand Korean media without subtitles.
During our sessions, we will focus on active conversation in a relaxed, pressure-free environment. I believe that making mistakes is the best way to learn, so I strive to create a safe, patient space where you feel completely comfortable trying out new sentences. We will use engaging, real-life materials like role-play scenarios, articles, and short video clips to ensure you are constantly improving. I am here to guide you step-by-step so that you can ultimately find your own authentic voice in Korean.
