Personal Description
I am an experienced and friendly private maths / Science ( Physics) tutor with a proven track record of helping students reach their maximum potential for the KS3, GCSE and A-level exams.
I have a Degree in Electronics & Computer Science and a Masters' degree in Applied Maths (Digital Signal and Image Processing). Both of my undergraduate and postgraduate studies included considerable amount of Maths and Physics studies which I still use in my teaching / tutoring. I worked for 4 years as a university lecturer, teaching Engineering Maths and Electronics / Electrical principles to engineering students. In addition, I have taught for more than 10 years in an Independent School (grammar school), teaching mainly Maths, Further Maths, Engineering Maths and Physics to a wide range of age groups KS3 ( year 7- year 9), GCSE, A-Levels and University foundation students).
Tutoring Experience
I have been a working as private tutor for more than 15 years, mainly in the evenings and weekends. I enjoy teaching on a one to one basis as this helps me to adapt my lessons to suit the student`s needs. I try to make my lessons interesting and enjoyable as much as possible.
Tutoring Approach
I first asses the student on his/her ability on Maths and discuss what he/she wants to achieve and set some achievable goals and follow a structure to improve Maths skills and perform well not only in the class room but also in the examinations. I do not have a magic wand to perform miracles. I work with the student to improve their grades by explaining the concept/ theory in a clear logical manner and motivate and encourage the student to perform well in maths. I encourage and motivate students by providing plenty of exam board specific resources. My students aiming for A* / A grades are expected to do some homework between lessons. There is no substitute for practicing maths questions and solving maths problems. There were occasions where students came with a specific request to perform well in the exam; I have helped them to improve their grades at the exam through rigorous revision techniques going through past exam questions.
