Advert description
I have a BA in English and a BA in Education & Social Services. I am going to undertake my PGDE (Primary Teaching) course this August. I have been tutoring for more than a decade in different countries. I am not based in Glasgow and teach English as a second language to people from different backgrounds, levels, and abilities. I enjoy teaching because I love helping and empowering individuals and make a difference.

I tend to use a variety of teaching methods in my classroom and that depends on my learners, their favourite learning style, and their level and age. I might use experiential teaching if my learners prefer to learn through experience and it can involve dynamic and active lessons where people can use their creativity and initiative to solve problems. I also use differentiated learning which is a teaching method that tailors instructions to students depending on their individual needs. This method is a great option when I teach mixed-ability classes and want everyone to get the most out of each lesson. When using the differentiated approach, I always ensure to create an inclusive culture in my classroom where everybody feels safe and respected regardless of their race, background, ability, gender, and so on. A better way to approach differentiation is to teach in a variety of ways, including books, films, images, and verbal presentations. This allows different students to get involved and understand the lesson content. I also offer blended learning. Essentially, blended learning is a combination of traditional face-to-face learning and technology-based learning. I use different online platforms to manage technology-based learning. Regardless of my students' age I sometimes tend to focus on making my lessons more fun, engaging and interactive. So I use game-based learning, also known as gamification, which is a great way to engage students, particularly those in primary and secondary education. I can use this method both in online lessons and face-to-face ones.
