I mentored secondary school pupils for behavioural and English support, many of them were very far behind academically due to their behaviour and it was essential to adjust my delivery methods in a tailored way to benefit each individual. I have also worked throughout different schools of all ages and abilities to support students to meet individual goals. As a mentor I feel that it is vital to understand that each student will process and retain information differently, therefore, it is essential that teaching methods are altered suit the individual.
I received B grades in English language and literature for GCSE and A Level, and I passed my access to higher education English course with a distinction. English has always been my preferred subject and engaging with people to help them learn and progress effectively is also something I am very passionate about as I feel that everyone deserves an equal chance to learn. I study Psychology with Developmental Disorders at University so I am very aware of the importance of making necessary adjustments, as well as having a good understanding of developmental milestones in all areas of development, this includes language development throughout the lifespan and bilingual language development.
