Advert description
I pride myself on being a supportive, motivating and patient tutor who genuinely believes every student can succeed with the right approach. I understand that no two learners are the same, so I adapt my teaching to suit each individual. If one explanation doesn’t quite click, I’ll explain it in a different way, using examples, real-life contexts or step-by-step guidance, until it makes sense. I never give up on my students, and I help them build that same resilient, growth mindset in themselves.
With over 20 years’ experience teaching 14–19 year olds, I know what success looks like and how to help students achieve it. I also have extensive experience working with a range of exam boards, which has strengthened my understanding of assessment standards, coursework requirements and effective exam techniques. I am skilled at breaking down exam questions so students clearly understand what is being asked and how to structure their responses to achieve the highest marks.
Whether it’s Functional Skills Maths and English, GCSE preparation, or Sport and Exercise Science coursework at higher levels, I focus on building both confidence and competence. I break learning down into manageable steps, carefully sequenced so students can build knowledge over time, and I use regular repetition and practice to ensure key concepts truly stick.
My lessons are structured, but also engaging and enjoyable. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable, supported and interested. I also place a strong emphasis on wellbeing and positive relationships, drawing on my mentoring experience to help students stay motivated and manage any challenges they face. Ultimately, my goal is not just to help students pass their assessments, but to help them feel confident in their abilities and proud of their progress.
