PGCE qualified Maths teacher with over 15 years teaching experience at GCSE and KS3

I am a qualified Maths teacher with a PGCE in Secondary Maths. I have more than 15 years experience teaching Mathematics at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, post 16, adults and also 1:1 tuition.
My biggest passion is teaching Foundation and Higher GCSE Maths and helping those students who have not yet achieved their Grade 4 or above to do so.

Whilst I genuinely enjoy Maths, I appreciate that for many students it is a 'Marmite' subject, and so often the biggest challenge many learners face is confidence and actually wanting to engage with the subject. I believe my strengths are being very supportive, patient, and showing them that they can do it by scaffolding the work, so they begin to believe in themselves again and so in time become successful . This is absolutely crucial for the majority of students who have so far achieved a Grade 3. (D)

When teaching a topic I try to make it interesting, relevant, approach it from many angles and provide the student with as many different types of questions and problems to solve, so they become confident when faced with unseen, new problems.
