Advert description
I offer violin and violas to all ages and abilities wiht the goals of musical joy and technical freedom. Balancing these is a key aspect of my teaching, which has a solid technincal basis wiht focus on setup. This comes from my experience studying with some of the world's greatest musicians, alongside my years of experience as a private teacher for both children and adults. I am happy to have conversations about goals with my students or parents and work out a plan together for musical development. One of my favourites things to do is play along with studnets in lessons, both enjoyable as well as helpful!
I'm violist from Brisbane, who has built a diverse performing career following studies with Volker Jacobsen at the prestigious HMTM Hannover in Germany. I have recently relocated to Edinburgh where I am building my violin/viola teaching studio as well as perform with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra amongst other ensembles. I have over 5 years of one-one teaching experience.
My ability to bring out ‘the rich, earthy timbres of the viola’ was described as ‘stunning’ by Limelight Magazine, the Queenslander lending a ‘spacious delicacy’ to his performances. A recipient of the 2023 Freedman Classical Fellowship, I perform with numerous ensembles including the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble Offspring, Ensemble Apex, Symphoniker Hamburg, Sydney Chamber Opera, Melbourne, Tasmanian, Queensland and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras, Play On, Backstage Music, Dots and Loops, Ensemble Reflektor and Inventi Ensemble. Additionally in education I have worked with the ACO Inspire Quartet, Hush Foundation, and was an artist-producer for the Melbourne Recital Centre’s Sound Matters program, also performing extensively for MRC’s Music Space in Aged Care program. Cherished mentors have included Michele Walsh, Roger Benedict and Caroline Henbest.
