I have been able to work with Aidan both as a peer in mathematics at University and as colleagues in the Edinburgh University Maths Outreach Team. Being in several of the same classes at Uni Aidan has been a valuable part of the group, talking through new ideas, spending time working on hard problems, and having the satisfaction of a correct answer.
As part of the Maths Outreach Team, I have worked with him at the Edinburgh Science Festival, Maths Circles and a Geometric Show for the public. All of these events involve communicating mathematics to children of all ages which Aidan was excellent at. A core idea of the Maths Outreach Team is not only to get participants to come to the correct answer but we want them to be able to reason and tell us why their answer is correct. Aidan is able to communicate mathematics to a range of age groups in a way that allows students to develop their understanding and reasoning and so better understand maths.
