Advert description
Hello students and families! I am an enthusiastic and diligent tutor who recently graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University, attaining a 3.976 GPA. I majored in English, with a minor in Economics.
I teach English at high school level and, while I have most experience with the Scottish education system, I would be equally happy to tutor students in England and Wales. Each lesson will be tailored towards your needs, with regular homework to assess progress and workbooks to summarise what has been learnt. I aim not only to pass on knowledge but also to develop key analytical skills that will provide a solid basis for future academic success. I find that 1 hour long sessions are typically the most productive, however I am happy to discuss what would best suit your goals.
Prior to my time in the US, I attended high school in Scotland and achieved As in Higher English, Maths, History, Classical Studies, Modern Studies, Spanish, Physics, Biology, and Psychology, and As in Advanced Higher English, History, Maths and Spanish. I was then accepted into law courses at Edinburgh and Cambridge, as well as being admitted into Harvard, Yale and Princeton in the US. Let me know if you would like help preparing for the Oxbridge interview and examination process, or for the US SAT/ACT and college application essays. As someone who has been through both systems successfully, I would be happy to help!
I also have experience teaching: I worked for 1 year as a support for learning assistant in a Scottish high school, and volunteered for an educational small-group afterschool programme while at University. During my time teaching, I have seen how important building confidence and emotional intelligence is for success, so I aim to foster a trust and respect-based relationship with each of my students. I focus not only on building academic knowledge but also on developing exam skills and analytical processes, which I believe are often the keys to great results in any subject.
If you’re looking for a fun, encouraging and hard-working tutor then please do get in touch. I’m excited to speak with you and discuss how I can help!
