I'm a Neuroscience undergraduate student hoping to teach GCSE secondary school students.

I teach secondary school students in General Science as well as GCSE and A-Level Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics. I aim to conduct one-to-one tuition, tailoring sessions to the needs of individual students to maximise learning. As a neuroscience undergraduate at the University of St Andrews, I have strong core subject knowledge with a genuine passion for making STEM concepts accessible. I've built these skills by leading scientific discussions for 20+ students, writing science articles for a neuroscience magazine, and coaching children with neurodivergent needs, where adapting my communication style was essential to fulfilling my role. I have experience with the psychology of learning and believe in breaking topics down into clear and intuitive concepts rather than relying on rote memorisation. Building genuine understanding of core scientific concepts is key at the GCSE and A-level phase. Sessions follow a linear structure that typically includes a recap of foundational concepts, active recall and practice questions. Understanding checks will be conducted regularly to adjust pace and focus as needed. Fostering student confidence with a focus on exam technique is what I value most as a tutor.
