Advert description
Undergoing a 3 year Psychology degree and 1 year of tutoring AQA A Level Psychology has equipped me with the teaching and subject skills/knowledge to offer quality lessons within this discipline.
Within my degree I studied many areas of Psychology from Biological Psychology to Discursive Psychology as well as Advanced Statistics and Research methods. Option modules taken included Eating Disorders and the Psychology of Intimacy to understand in depth the romantic and platonic bonds of human experience. My dissertation focused on chronic illness relating strongly to biological and cognitive elements investigating the impact of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome on individuals and the causation of the condition. As an involved student I also qualified in a Mental Health First Aid course which gave me a strong understanding of psychopathologies at a crisis level. Additionally my work as a student mentor for 1.5 years meant helping students form key goals and utilise techniques to work through low level anxiety and depression. Delivering an online programme in this time gave me strong mentoring experience which provided a great basis for tutoring.
Within my tutoring of Psychology I have explored many aspects in detail with my students from attachment and memory to statistical testing and creating a study. Option specific content was explored in great depth too for the modules of aggression, stress, gender and schizophrenia. I live on the AQA website to keep up to date with any changes and new information.
All my students will be provided with plenty of exam practise as we cover exam questions every lesson and learn the skills of how to answer a whole variety of exam questions. This teaching will include working on timing, planning, essay layout and what to include in different types of questions. For example an evaluate question explores strengths and weaknesses of a study where as an application question may require the display of key knowledge to be linked to the case study to rationalise a certain behaviour, event or outcome.
