11+ specialist with 25 years’ experience, BA (Hons) & PGCE, teaches junior maths online

I spent 25 years as a primary headteacher, working closely with children across all ability levels. I have taught maths throughout the junior years and prepared hundreds of pupils for the 11+. I understand how children learn, where they typically struggle, and how to build competence and confidence over time.

I use an Assess - Target - Improve method: start with an assessment paper, identify key gaps in knowledge, process and exam technique, then structure lessons around these. Regular assessment is then used to track progress and guide next steps.

Lessons include a focused review of prior learning, clear explanation of key concepts drawn from the 11+ and the maths curriculum, and guided practice, with homework set to reinforce progress.

Lessons are delivered online. I encourage parents to use a simple visualiser or camera focused on the child’s work so I can see their working in real time and carefully check for understanding during the lesson.

Suitable for Years 3–6, including 11+ preparation and pupils needing to strengthen maths skills.
