Warwick First class Maths Graduate, able to teach Maths and Physics

Advert description
Exams can be daunting, and while understanding mathematical concepts is crucial, what truly sets you apart is the ability to creatively apply that knowledge and navigate difficult problems under pressure. In our tutoring sessions, we will focus heavily on solving challenging problems to solidify your understanding and sharpen your problem-solving skills. By working through complex and unfamiliar questions, you'll not only increase your mathematical creativity but also gain the confidence to tackle the unknown—something every maths student encounters. I look forward to helping you achieve your full potential
Marcello Gabriele in a nutshell
Unlike many maths graduates, I did not always have a passion for the subject. Throughout most of my school years, I struggled with maths and often underperformed in exams. To me, it seemed like an abstract subject filled with meaningless formulas. However, that changed in Year 11 when I was introduced to an exceptional tutor.

Initially, we worked together for 2-3 hours per week, but as I engaged more deeply with the subject, my interest grew into a passion. I started seeing my tutor every day after school, spending countless hours working through difficult problems. For the first time, I saw the interconnectedness and creativity in maths. This new perspective changed my academic path. Instead of pursuing biology-related A-levels as I had originally planned, I chose Maths, Further Maths, and Physics, earning A* in all three subjects.
During my A-levels, I was fortunate to work with another inspiring tutor, who encouraged me to tackle advanced papers such as STEP, MAT, and TMUA. His guidance inspired me to apply to top universities, and I recently completed my degree with a 74% average in Mathematics from the University of Warwick.
This journey has deepened my appreciation for the role of a tutor in transforming a student’s academic path. My own experience, combined with my love for teaching, has driven me to pursue a career in tutoring. As a student at Warwick, I developed a strong foundation in various mathematical disciplines, including analysis, algebra, and vector calculus, consistently achieving first-class grades. This academic rigour has sharpened my analytical and problem-solving skills, which I am eager to share with students.

I currently tutor Maths at St. Mary’s Catholic High School, working with students from KS3 to KS4. In addition, I provide weekly private tutoring sessions to a student, focusing on strengthening their Maths skills. Prior to this, after completing my A-levels, I tutored GCSE and A-level students in both Maths and Physics for two months, helping them prepare for exams and improve their understanding of key concepts.

In my first lesson, I will determine the student's skill level and relationship with Maths, as well as their current goals. From there, it will largely depend on the student, but some key things I will likely do include providing challenging problems—Maths is not a spectator sport! It is the best way to learn without question as you'll not only increase your mathematical creativity but also gain the confidence to tackle the unknown—something every maths student encounters. Furthermore, when teaching a topic, I will do so with a university-style approach, showing where a formula came from through proofs and derivations, both algebraic and visual.

Overall, my aim will be to help you start thinking like a mathematician.
