Being a great online tutor requires a combination of different qualities that go beyond just subject expertise. That is why I am always looking to have excellent communication, be a good listener, be patient, have a strong online presence, be engaging, value real-world learning, exhibit professionalism, possess a deep understanding of the subject, and have a passion for teaching. I would like to build strong relationships with my students, provide effective instruction, and help them achieve their academic goals.
Being patient and understanding, and taking the time to get to know my students and build a rapport with them, is what I love. I am passionate about my classes, and I am sure able to convey their excitement and enthusiasm to my students, making the learning process more engaging and enjoyable.
As an online tutor, I typically provide academic or professional assistance to someone over the internet, and might help school-aged children with homework assignments in various subjects such as science or math tutoring. I might also specialize in preparing students for college entrance exams. Sometimes I focus on job skills training for adults. Tutoring English as a Second Language (ESL) and Spanish as a second language are very popular jobs I always have.
I may use various teaching methods and technologies and often assist students via email, podcasts, webcasts, or video chat sessions. Normally I tutor one student at a time. Assignments can include individual exercises or group work that is submitted online. In addition, I may administer diagnostic tests to assess a student’s competencies. Those who work for a company are usually available during established business hours; many students also have the option to schedule an individual session at a specific time or drop in when they have a question.
