Maths tutor providing lessons to children of all ages

Advert description
I have a strong foundation in Pure Mathematics, Economics, and Computer Science, and I am preparing to begin a degree in Data Analytics and Actuarial Science at City, University of London. This programme will allow me to further strengthen the analytical and quantitative skills that I already bring to my tutoring. At the secondary level, I earned fourteen Grade I’s and one Grade II in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations, which are equivalent in scope and rigor to the UK’s GCSEs. Currently, I am pursuing advanced studies at St. Vincent Community College, where I continue to refine my problem-solving ability and logical reasoning.
Since 2021, I have been working as a private tutor in Mathematics and English. I specialize in breaking down complex concepts into clear, step-by-step explanations and tailoring lessons to suit each student’s learning style. My students have consistently improved their performance, with many achieving distinctions in their examinations. More importantly, they leave sessions with greater confidence, enthusiasm, and independence in their studies.

My lessons are interactive and student-centered, designed to build confidence and understanding step by step. I typically begin each session with a brief recap or a warm-up question to gauge where you’re comfortable and to highlight areas that may need more attention. From there, we move into clear, structured explanations of key concepts, using examples and real-world applications to make the material engaging and relevant.
I mix short teaching segments with plenty of guided practice. For more complex topics, I like to break ideas into smaller, manageable parts and use visual aids, analogies, or interactive tools to keep the lesson dynamic.
Over the years I have gained experience teaching students with different learning styles and skill levels, from beginners to those preparing for advanced examinations (e.g. A-levels). This has taught me to be patient, adaptable, and to communicate ideas in several ways until they click.
My teaching qualities include:
1. Clarity and organization – I plan lessons with a logical flow, so concepts build naturally.
2. Adaptability – I adjust pace and methods to suit each student’s needs and goals.
3. Encouragement and empathy – I create a friendly atmosphere where questions are welcomed, and mistakes are part of learning.
4. Focus on critical thinking – I guide students to reason through problems rather than just memorize formulas.

By the end of each lesson, you’ll not only have practiced the material but also developed strategies for tackling similar challenges on your own. My aim is that every session leaves you more confident, curious, and ready to apply what you’ve learned to the real world.
