Maths tutor with 4+ years of experience with high school students

I have a PhD in Applied Mathematics and have experience tutoring maths in a range of context, both online and in-person. Through this time I have taught groups of undergraduates, as well as working for a charity helping high school students catch up after disruption due to the pandemic.

In my tutoring I like to work through questions with students, offering help when they are struggling. This method allows students to become familiar with a topic whilst also building confidence around their problem solving abilities. It also helps the lessons to feel more interactive and gives me an idea about how the student thinks about problems, allowing me to tailor my tutoring style to fit them. I try to create a friendly relaxed environment to help students feel comfortable attempting tricky problems.

Using past exam questions throughout lessons helps students become familiar with the style of the exams and the way information is presented. This allows them to be more confident when they come to sit the exam.
