Advert description
I humbly apply for the position of Geography Tutor at Coventry. I am a highly ambitious and motivated graduate of first and second Urban and Regional Planning degrees from the prestigious Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. I am a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (MNITP), a Member of Emergency Management Vanguard (MEMV) and a Registered Town Planner (RTP) with the Town Planners Registration Council of Nigeria (TOPRECN). As an individual with a distinct responsibility, including teaching, research, advocacy, and capacity development initiatives, it would be a profound privilege to share my highly-rated experience with the team and learn and develop.
Growing through the ranks has exposed me to three different aspects of academics – teaching, research and community service. All these I have carried out within and outside the walls of the University. I work as an Assistant Professor (lecturer I) with the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Ilorin, Nigeria and a visiting lecturer at the University of Chester.
I have taught over 15 courses spanning urban geography, environmental health and planning. These courses include Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Natural Resources and Environmental Planning, Environmental Auditing (EA), Ecosystem Services and Climate Change Adaptation, and Environmental Risk and Disaster (ERD). It would be of interest to know that I have more than 20 publications (ORCID: published in reputable International and Local journals, including Journals rated as Q1 – Q4 by Scimago Journal Ranking (SJR).
In addition, my demonstrated practical work experience as an academic and professional has embraced broader responsibilities that have exposed me to various planning software. These include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), CAD software, statistical package for social scientists (SPSS), geographic information system (GIS), sound email networking skills, etc. I have also received diverse training certificates on understanding development, safeguarding, cover supervisor, teaching assistant and exam supervision. I am equally a registered member of the Education Work Council. Therefore, I believe I can I can help students overcome their challenges pertaining to geography.
