Personal Statement
My Ethos
Having taught in a variety of settings for almost forty years, of which twenty-five have been in mainstream education, and fifteen in adult educational settings, I have gained a certain degree of expertise in several fields. Hence, I am confident that I will bring a wealth of experience to this job.
During this time, I have worked with talented children, as well as with children having physical disabilities and with less confidence. I have learned to appreciate and value each one of them for their prior knowledge and the contributions that they bring to every classroom activity, including the impact they have on me and their peers.
My learners are at the heart of my teaching. I seek to bring out the best in each unique individual. I do this by offering them unconditional acceptance in my commitment to help them achieve according to their potential.
For this very reason, I am currently engaged in research on Neuron Learning which specifically caters for vulnerable and challenged learners. It explores the implementation of innovative yet simple techniques to improve students’ literacy skills on a personal level and through collaborative learning which proves to be most effective.
As a result of this study, I am currently engaged in teaching neurodivergent students alongside neurotypical students to help enrich each other's learning experience.
