I tutor English Literature up to degree level, through individualised sessions catered to your specific learning style.

My lessons are conducted online, over Zoom or Teams, and my teaching style is entirely dependant on your individual needs. I like to have a brief initial meeting with my students before we start lessons so I can establish what you want to gain from tutoring, and what approach will best get you there.

I believe people learn best by doing, so I like my lessons to be interactive, with a good amount of discussion and feedback from the student. Depending on the student’s learning style, I might also prepare a visual presentation, video clips, or interactive worksheets. We can also workshop any assignments and practice exam papers you may have; I can help you plan out your ideas and give you pointers on how to improve your written work.

The core value of my approach is breaking things down into manageable steps. I know how English can be an intimidating subject, some may even call it boring! But I believe anyone can find a love for literature if they learn to break it down, one line at a time. I can help you find your way ‘in’ to even the densest text, and find readings that mean something to you.
