Mathematics is a subject I can relate to and always enjoy. I would love to aid younger students in feeling the same way or at least hating the subject a little less. The key to being good at a subject is really understanding the foundations and having a positive attitude towards what you do. I don't have professional experience in teaching but have tutored younger peers during my free time in school. I make sure to listen to students and their exact needs, while also analysing how they approach questions on their own to find any areas of struggle. I like to teach interactively, using real-life concepts or objects to understand mathematical principles. I would make sure to start with the basics of any topic to reinforce understanding, then build up to the more complex problems. Practise is key, particularly with exams like GCSE's, it is vital to do many of the practise papers available to find areas to target. Maths can be tedious when you keep getting stuck on a sum or nothings working, which is where I believe I can help. I would like to create a safe learning environment where students feel comfortable in expressing their opinions and aren't afraid of making mistakes. Mistakes are vital to learn from and by appreciating the parts that a student gets correct, I believe I can encourage them to keep improving.
