I have a background in business from over 20 years working in consultancy and innovation, research and insight roles. This has led to me working for businesses ranging from start-ups to major corporations like E.ON, across telecoms, energy, financial services, non-profit, tourism and technology.
I am strongly versed in business theory - having a distinction Msc Marketing, and having committed to ongoing learning in my field for years, as well interpersonal skills such as coaching, performance management, team management, and personality models. Just now, I am developing a proposition to help SMEs to understand market and consumer trends and take appropriate actions to survive and grow, meaning I am well versed in contemporary trends ranging from AI and big data to the impact of net zero and changing consumer expectations of businesses.
The second part of my profile is as an educator. I am currently a volunteer running employability training for a local group, am an accredited career coach and have previously worked on outreach programmes for my organisations into local schools, teaching business ideas, like pricing.
In style, I can flex between educator, consultant and coach throughout a programme. My style is to share insight and learning, nurture discussion and debate around ideas and their applicability, as this helps to not only internalise and embed theory but create a rounded professional with their own perspectives. It also stimulates ongoing learning and curiosity.
In all, I believe my background, range of methods to impart knowledge, ongoing immersion in topic market and business topics, and interpersonal strengths - which I'd use to add value to lessons - would make me a strong tutor.
