Advert description
I hold a PGCE in Secondary Science (Physics) with QTS, an MSc in Medical Physics, and a BTech (Hons) in Industrial Physics. My secondary school qualifications have also been assessed by UK ENIC, confirming the equivalent of at least Grade A in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
I have substantial teaching and tutoring experience across KS3, GCSE and Sixth Form, including teaching Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics since 2012. During my PGCE placements at Trinity School, Sevenoaks, and Astor Secondary School, Dover, I planned and delivered Science lessons across KS3 and KS4 and Physics at KS5. I have worked with students of different abilities and starting points, including pupils with SEND, and have developed strong skills in identifying misconceptions, adapting explanations and building students' confidence.
As an online GCSE Science tutor, I would use a structured, interactive and student-centred approach. I would begin by assessing the student's existing knowledge and identifying gaps, then break complex topics into manageable steps using clear explanations, worked examples, diagrams and modelling. I would use retrieval practice, targeted questioning, quizzes and digital response tools to check understanding throughout each lesson rather than waiting until the end.
I would place particular emphasis on GCSE exam technique, helping students understand command words, apply scientific principles, interpret data, construct high-quality answers and learn from common misconceptions. Regular homework and short assessments would allow me to monitor progress, while timely and specific feedback would help students understand exactly what they need to improve.
My background as a Medical Physicist in clinical oncology and radiation science also allows me to make Science relevant by connecting GCSE concepts such as radiation, waves, electricity and electromagnetism to real-world applications including radiotherapy and medical imaging.
I am reliable, organised and confident teaching both small groups and one-to-one online lessons, with the technical equipment and communication skills required to create a professional, engaging and supportive virtual learning environment.
