I understand that each student is unique in itself, thus my approach is to cater the requirements of the student and bringing flexibility into my lessons.
My first step is to understand how the student thinks or approaches the subject, which can be done through a simple test, orally or written. After getting an idea of how the student understands a particular concept, I can design lesson plans that aim to teach a pupil in the best way they can learn. The lesson plan will also consist of periodic tests from which the student can reflect upon and sharpen their skillset and improve their knowledge on the topic. The content of the lessons will be the primarily from school supported by out of course-book sources for a complete learning experience.
In my education, I have been through 3 different education boards. Needless to say, I am no stranger to different methods of learning and teaching.
Lastly, I would like to make it clear that my emphasis is not necessarily on knowledge; I have often seen teachers make the mistake of asking their students to memorise under precision. My focus is rather on skills and understanding of the concept. If a student is equipped with the two, they can tackle any subject academically provided they gain the sufficient knowledge which is readily available in today’s digital age.
