Advert description
I am an experienced Maths and Computer Science tutor with a PhD in Computer Science from Aberystwyth University, UK, and over 10 years of teaching, tutoring, and academic support experience across UK and international education settings. I support students from KS3, GCSE, and A-Level Mathematics through to undergraduate and postgraduate Computer Science, including programming, data structures, databases, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
My teaching experience includes one-to-one tutoring, small-group teaching, and online and in-person academic support. Since 2014, I have worked as a private tutor, helping students improve confidence, strengthen subject understanding, and achieve better exam results through personalised learning plans and structured guidance.
I specialise in simplifying complex mathematical and computing concepts into clear, step-by-step explanations. My approach is highly student-centred, focusing on identifying individual learning needs and tailoring lessons accordingly. I use worked examples, guided practice, and interactive problem-solving to build understanding and develop independent thinking.
I also place strong emphasis on exam preparation, including past paper practice, exam strategies, and targeted revision to improve performance under timed conditions. My goal is to ensure students not only understand the material but can apply it effectively in assessments.
I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (PGCTHE) and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), reflecting my commitment to high-quality teaching and continuous professional development. My academic and industry background in Artificial Intelligence further strengthens my ability to support advanced learners in computing and programming.
I am passionate about teaching and enjoy helping students build confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve their academic goals through supportive and engaging tuition.
