Advert description
I have recently graduated with a First Class BA in English from King's College London. Alongside my passion for teaching and literature, I frequently engage with film, theatre, and all forms of art! I am also a freelance video editor, visual artist, and media archivist.
I recently graduated from King's College London with a First Class degree (BA Hons) in English. My 8,000 word dissertation project, ‘Moon-Mothers; Lesser Lights and Weaker Vessels’, received a First. My dissertation focused on 18th and 19th century Romantic and Gothic literature, viewing the texts through an eco-feminist lens. I was awarded Firsts in the majority of my classes, including a mark of 81 (the highest mark out of 60+ students) in a module named 'Shakespeare's London'.
Over the course of this year I have been teaching students with alternative educational needs (SEND/SEMH) through face-to-face and online 1:1 and 2:1 sessions. I believe in a highly personalised teaching approach and my lessons are entirely tailored to a student's needs. Depending on what is required I can offer both structured and flexible lessons. I intend for students to come away from lessons with not only elevated literacy and critical thinking skills, but unique perspectives on written material and a strong individual voice.
My teaching approach is tailored to each student's individual goals, ranging from general support with day-to-day learning to targeted exam preparation. I believe in breaking down the learning process, focusing on the core elements of reading and writing.
For younger learners this may look like mastering spelling and grammar, introducing literary techniques, and developing a sense of how these techniques as well as context shapes readers' reception. For older learners it may look like gaining a deeper understanding of literary techniques and how they are influenced by textual form and structure, practising exam responses that are tailored to the question and time-efficient, developing research skills, and generating structured papers and responses that contain all the necessary information to achieve top marks.
