Advert description
A semi-retired Secondary Teacher of Mathematics of 30 years teaching (BEng, PGCE, QTS, Enhanced DBS) Experienced in KS3, KS4, A level and Further maths.
Have been tutoring for 15 years helping pupils from KS3, KS4, A Level and Further Maths make very good progress.
Always did tutoring from home with local children, however, having tried online tutoring with very good success want to offer my services to all UK students. I conduct 1/1.5 hour lessons on a weekly basis via Facetime or Whatsapp and using an live interactive whiteboard app which feels like you are sitting right next to me.
I have taught many pupils who have thoroughly enjoyed my approach and if you don't fully understand I will find a way to make you understand. You will never know if you don't contact me.
I use the first session to understand the needs of prospective pupils. At the end of the session, I have a frank and honest discussion with the pupil and/or their guardians. I use these conversations to listen to the concerns of the pupils and/or their guardians and present an outline of my assessment of the student's areas of strengths and weaknesses. I also suggest a course of action to help the pupil move forward.
I tell all prospective pupils there is no magic bullet or shortcut. To achieve success in mathematics a few things are key: understanding the concept well; understanding when and how to apply it in different situations; lots of practice in applying it in different scenarios and short, regular revision sessions. So my only pre-conditions before I agree to work with any student are: a positive attitude; a commitment to put in the time and effort required to bring about the improvement in their grades; and having regular session(s) every week.
