Advert description
I am currently in the last year of my PhD in mathematical physics at the Univeristy of Bristol, working in an area that brings together techniques from analysis, probability and linear algebra.
I have always believed that everyone has the ability to understand maths and physics if they are presented with a variety of perspectives on a concept - the trick is finding the right one!
I split my sessions into two parts. The first part focuses on building intuition and true understanding of mathematical and physical concepts. This will involve drawing lots of pictures and obtaining a visual understanding of concepts relating to the real world.
The second half is the practical element - solving problems and building up a bank of tools and techniques. We will work through some problems together and some individually, to build up confidence in applying these skills yourself.
In order to excel in exams, I believe that it is important to develop both of these parts equally, so that you not only have the tools but understand them at a fundamental level in order to correctly identify the situations in which they are used.
