I'm a maths uni student planning to go into gcse teaching after my degree. And I want to help those struggling.

For my teaching approach in a 1-1 setting. I will go at their pace. Starting by asking them how confident they are about each topic area, then based on that I will either, guide them through basic principles of the topic, or I will help them through a problem regarding the topic area entirely depending on how they feel their strength is in the topic area. If at any point we reach a point where there is a lack of understanding or some key information seems to missing we will backtrack and discuss that gap in knowledge, while trying to explain it in a way they would understand. Letting the student ask as many questions as needed to which I'll answer to the best of my abilities.
