Advert description
I am currently completing a PhD in Antarctic Biology at the University of Birmingham and the British Antarctic Survey. Alongside my research, I have nine years of tutoring experience and previously taught Biology at Harrow School in London (2021–22). I am also an examiner for Edexcel IGCSE Biology and have previously examined for Cambridge International and OCR A Level Biology.
My teaching is highly personalised, with lessons tailored to each student's learning style, strengths and areas for development. Whether a student needs support with difficult topics, revision strategies, exam technique or confidence-building, I provide a structured and supportive approach that helps them make steady progress.
I have experience working with students of all abilities, including those with SEND, and place great importance on building positive relationships with both students and parents. My aim is not only to help students achieve excellent exam results, but also to develop their confidence, independence and enjoyment of science.
My lessons are designed to be engaging and interactive, incorporating a range of resources including visual explanations, short videos, discussion-based learning, quizzes and exam-style questions. As an experienced examiner, I place particular emphasis on exam technique, teaching students how to use key terminology accurately and apply their knowledge in the way mark schemes require.
For students who enjoy exploring beyond the specification, I am always happy to discuss current scientific research and real-world applications, helping to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the subject.
