Advert description
I’m currently doing my PhD in biomedical sciences, but I’ve spent the last few years working as a youth leader and mentoring students. I got 11 A*-A grades at GCSE, including an A* in Maths and an A in Science, so I know the academic side well. But honestly, knowing the material is only half the job. You have to actually connect with the kids.
My teaching style is super relaxed and patient. I don't believe in forcing a rigid lesson plan if a student is struggling. If they are getting frustrated with a science topic, we just take a breath, step back, and break it down into much smaller chunks until it finally clicks.
Because of my background in pastoral care and safeguarding, I know how to make a space feel genuinely safe and encouraging. I always tell my students that making mistakes is a good thing because it is just how we figure things out. I will help them get to grips with the core primary science curriculum, but my main goal is really just to build up their self-belief so they actually start to enjoy learning instead of dreading it.
