Mahmoud Elmarzouky is an experienced academic and professional in the field of accounting and finance. Currently serving as the PhD/DBA Coordinator for the Accounting Department at Aston University, Mahmoud has a strong background in academia and industry. He holds a PhD from the University of Portsmouth, UK. Mahmoud has received recognition for his teaching excellence, including winning the VC Student Excellence Award. With over 15 years of experience in both academic and professional roles, he has lectured at several prestigious institutions, including the University of Portsmouth, Anglia Ruskin University, Westminster University and Kingston University. Mahmoud is a certified fraud examiner (CFE), Certified Management & Business Educator (CMBE), and a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Mahmoud's research interests revolve around semantic analysis, Natural Language Processing (NLP), particularly focusing on areas such as, corporate narrative reporting, climate change disclosure, sustainability, SDGs, modern slavery, and the adoption of financial and auditing reporting standards. He has expertise in textual analysis and has designed and delivered workshops in this area. He is actively involved in the academic community, serving as an ad-hoc reviewer for various journals and conferences, as well as Experienced in securing research grants and actively contributing to the academic community through editorial roles and conference engagements.
