Dear whom it may concern,??

I am currently working at one of the leading independent private schools in the UK (Westholme School) as Acting Head of Economics and Business. Prior to this I was working at Al Bateen Academy (Aldar) in Abu Dhabi, UAE as Head of Business and Economics and prior to that I was Head of Business, Economics and ICT at KGIS (Inspired) in Muscat, Oman.

I hold a Masters in Educational Management and Leadership and I have the passion, drive, skills, qualities and experience to be able to make a positive impact at your school. My dissertation was reflective research on ways to motivate staff, students and other key stakeholders to improve engagement in an education setting. I was able to learn, reflect and implement useful strategies and carefully revise accordingly. Some key takeaways I took from this was the ability to foster a high performance learning environment, embrace a coaching orientated leadership style and promote growth mindset. I have continued to embark upon various CPD opportunities both in school and externally. In short there are too many to list as this is something I do on an ongoing basis. I am currently looking to register on the NPQSL once I secure a post here.
?
Aside from leadership, I have taken a lead role in implementing College Counselling and I was the designated form teacher for 20 IB Students who will attend University. I helped students prepare university applications and guided them on their subject choices/career paths. In addition, I spearheaded external educational trips for the students and organised external providers coming in to give talks in the school. I have created opportunities for students to develop their skill-set outside of academia by raising awareness of various opportunities at different intervals in the year. When organising trips and visits I have completed the necessary health and safety risk assessment and created financial spreadsheets to organise the budget. ?

One of my key passions and areas of interest that I have personally focussed on has been improving well-being amongst student and staff. This has driven myself to voluntarily help develop existing curriculum across the school, working closely with local partners and undertaking extensive training. Some examples of initiatives I have raised during the process are raising awareness about the importance of where to seek help and how to cope with the pressures of school and life in general. This has ranged from helping students and staff become more organised with their work load, understanding the importance of nutrition, sleep and overall holistically balanced approach. We have witnessed the fruits of this labor where we have seen learners and staff becoming more productive, motivated and socially equipped, which in turn has been a positive driver in improving productivity, reducing absenteeism and staff/student turnover.
?
In my most recent role I taught the iGCSE and IB Business and Economics curriculum and planned all the long term, medium term and short term documents for the department. I also extensively tracked data and set goals and objectives within the department that is both data driven and based on qualitative information. I also lead weekly meetings with my team to help drive improvement, communicate key information and overall support my fellow colleagues in the department.
?
In my previous school in Oman I have taught the International A Level curriculum in both Economics and Business (Pearson Edexcel). Prior to this I have also taught Advance Level Accounting (AQA), Edexcel BTEC Business Level 2/3 and I have experience of team teaching Edexcel BTEC Business Level 1.
?
Due to staff shortage in my early teaching career in my first school and my willingness to be flexible; I delivered and managed lessons in KS3 Humanities, English and PE. Overall, I have acquired a wealth of experience in both subject knowledge, pedagogy and leadership.
?
I have helped to write numerous student work booklets, unit plans and lesson plans. I have moderated other teachers’ work and also taken a key role in carrying out teacher observations/feedback. I have observed lessons across many subjects to support the SLT during their monthly learning walks and have formally observed lessons from various subjects. This has given myself an opportunity to witness best practice in the school and also provide constructive feedback to my fellow colleagues to drive improvement. Furthermore, the process and experience has helped foster a robust awareness of exemplary teaching and learning which in turn has led to improving my own day to day teaching.
?
I have taught a variety of abilities, tailoring my lessons to meet the needs of each class. The lessons are more often than not successful because I meticulously plan and differentiate material to cater for the needs of all learners. I have become proficient in preparation and lesson planning and I have particularly enjoyed creating my own resources for my classes. In my current setting we have used the Accelerated Learning Cycle model. As part of driving improvement in teaching and learning I led a whole school CPD session on retrieval practice this year.
?
My most recent experience at KGIS has allowed me to introduce innovative teaching and learning styles via the Zoom/Google Classroom medium. I spearheaded assessments and learning online using GoFormative, Google Quizzes, Menti and Kahoot to name a few. I have also attended CPD training sessions on innovative teaching and learning strategies, which has allowed me to collaboratively share ideas with other colleagues.
?
I believe that working cooperatively with colleagues is an essential responsibility of an Educator and I have demonstrated this through contribution to faculty and house meetings, attendance at various Parents’ Evening and options evenings. I also understand the importance of working alongside other departments, in order to create cross-curricular links. Most importantly, I have demonstrated my ability to seek feedback and act upon advice from colleagues and mentors in order to improve and develop my professional skills.
?
As a seasoned professional with more than 12 years of experience in the Education Sector; I would like to continue developing my skills and qualities at your school. In return, I would offer enthusiasm, tenacity and positivity towards fulfilling my role at your school. ?
Yours sincerely,
?
