I have been trained in Communicative Language Teaching Methodologies and use all communicative learner-centered practices in my teaching. My style is interactive pair and group work. Project preparation and presentation is essential to all assessments. I engage all learners in peer- assessment and evaluation.
Flipped classroom approaches are elemental to my teaching, as is CLIL methodology. Discovery is essential to solid and sustainable learning which means that learners learn through being set communicative tasks rather than being drilled in language structures. Focus is on achieving goals in communicating rather than on producing grammatically perfect texts.
To these ends, it is always necessary for learners to co-operate in achieving results in set class tasks. An essential element of classwork is that learners must share information and skills to meet the desired task goals.
Equal emphasis need be placed on all four language skills; speaking, listening, reading and writing. Presentation of class work is effected through audio and visual inputs. All available media must be utilised in classroom teaching. Film, video, books, newspapers, magazines, television, radio, Internet and social media are all essential to achieving comprehensive learning.
There needs to be involvement of the learners native culture in the teaching/learning environment. This need include young learners contemporary cultures.
I am anticipation involving AI features in my future teaching by involving learners' familiarity with AIChat features in the lessons. At present, this is an embryonic aspect of my teaching, but I anticipate this will begin to feature more and more in all English Language teaching in the near future.
