Social Sciences Oxbridge Interview Preparation and Personal Statement Feedback

As a tutor, I take pride in personalising my lessons to the strengths and weaknesses of each student. I wish to make a student feel the most confident they can in their application to study Human, Social and Political Sciences (HSPS) at the University of Cambridge, or Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at the University of Oxford. As both courses are very competitive, I am confident my support can increase a student's chances in the application process as I seek to improve their skills at every step.

The first step of the application process, the personal statement, is of great importance. Having tutored with Zero Gravity and Future Leaders UK for three years, I have much experience aiding students to write strong and competitive personal statements demonstrating great analytical depth. I provide my own personal statement as an example of a successful piece of written work demonstrating original insight. I have attended many workshops with the Admissions and Outreach team, so I am uniquely equipped to understanding the specific expectations they hold when reading personal statements. Further, I have supported students with mock interviews. The real Oxbridge interview often includes both probing the student's personal statement, and providing them with an unseen extract to evaluate. Thus, in my mock interviews, I follow a similar structure, providing students with written feedback afterwards. Understanding this is often a nerve-wracking experience, I balance out my feedback with highlighting their strengths, seeking to develop these to shine in the real interview.

Lessons are typically an hour long, or an hour and a half for mock interviews. My price also includes an hour of preparation or marking in advance. My lessons are for anyone seeking to apply to Cambridge or Oxford for HSPS or PPE, but I could also tailor support to Psychology, Theology, English Literature and other Humanities subjects. I have experience online tutoring on Zero Gravity for three years while sitting my undergraduate degree. This has equipped me with the necessary skills to break down and simplify complex topics to each student.
