Advert description
I was excited to see your listing for a job as an English tutor. Having done language learning myself throughout my academic career, learning French until GCSE, and teaching myself Arabic in university, I am very passionate about language learning and the power knowing a language can give. Having begun to teach myself a language, I understand many of the challenges that can come in beginning to learn a new language, especially one which has a different alphabet.
I myself am highly proficient in English, in both writing and speaking. I achieved top grades in the subject at both GCSE and A-Level, and continue to write and present extensively in my degree, and more recently in my placement year.
My experience teaching in Ghana to children with limited English proficiency has taught me some of the ways to approach teaching someone English, as well as the importance of talking slowly and in a way that is approachable. Because of this, as well as my experience in communicating across language barriers both at Prisoners Abroad and working at Buckingham Palace, I believe I am well equipped to learn more about teaching English.
