Advert description
I have over 16 years’ experience as a private tutor, teaching GCSE Science across all disciplines and specialising in A‑Level Biology. I work both face‑to‑face and online with individuals and groups, covering multiple exam boards including AQA, OCR, and Edexcel.
Alongside tutoring my son, who has complex learning needs, I gained a qualification in Understanding Autism to better support diverse learners. I also volunteered as a family support worker at an autism charity, supporting adults with neurodivergence and learning difficulties. My SEN experience extends to the pharmaceutical industry, where I trained ABPI science modules for trainees without formal science backgrounds, including supporting a student with dyslexia to successfully prepare for the mandatory exam.
In addition to private tutoring, I have delivered tailored educational sessions for SEN learners in group and 1:1 settings at both a zoo and a forestry centre. These roles involved adapting natural history, zoology, and environmental science content to meet diverse needs, ensuring accessibility and engagement for school groups, corporate groups, and individual learners.
I also have extensive experience delivering online tuition and workshops using platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams. I teach both 1:1 and group sessions, adapting my approach to suit the needs of each learner. To ensure lessons are interactive and engaging, I incorporate tools such as Padlet, Blackboard, and Quizlet, alongside multimedia resources tailored to individual learning styles. In larger online workshops, I make use of breakout sessions to facilitate discussion, collaboration, and deeper learning.
This breadth of experience has given me a strong understanding of SEN challenges and strategies, enabling me to deliver empathetic, personalised, and effective education across settings and age ranges
