Advert description
As an experienced Geography teacher of 12 years and a qualified SQA marker, I have an excellent understanding of standards. I am an experienced practitioner working in a high performing school in Scotland with experience working with pupils from a range of backgrounds and levels. I teach Geography to all year groups including S1-S3 BGE, National 4/5 and Higher Geography levels.
I have led pupils on a variety of fieldwork expeditions and have successfully supported pupils through their National and Higher Assignments.
I have an interest in mindfulness and counselling, and completed a 6 week course in mindfulness training. This has helped me better support pupil wellbeing whilst teaching. I also hold an SCQF level 5 in counselling. Both of these areas are key in Education, enabling me to offer support to pupils in a more holistic sense, offering a caring approach whilst instilling a growth mindset and a “can-do” attitude.
I hold an “outstanding” in “mentoring and coaching” (masters level) from the University of Aberdeen. I have drawn from this to support staff and pupils in various schools I have worked in. Instilling a growth mindset within pupils is key to my practice and is key in ensuring academic success for all of the students that I work with.
I have voluntary experience working in the third sector, drawing from the above skills to support educators in Uganda and Rwanda. I lived in Uganda and Rwanda for a month-long GLP project in 2023 supporting teachers and teacher-trainers with their practice.
