For beginners, I teach some greeting phrases, self-introduction phrases, phrases in a restaurant, Japanese writing systems.
From intermediate, I basically ask students to find either interesting internet articles or YouTube picture books. I ask them to have a listen to, and be ready to verbally summarise as homework.
In class, I ask students to read the summary and we do look at each sentence one by one.
At the last five minutes of every lesson, we do a review quiz so we can know how much we understood.
That’s how my class goes.
