Yuk Fung Kitty Yuen

Hi there! I’m Kitty Yuen, a passionate Cantonese tutor from Hong Kong, currently calling London home for the past four years.

I was born into a Chinese-speaking family. My foundation in the language is rooted in deep academic study; I specialized in A-Level Chinese Literature and History during my time in Hong Kong. This background allows me to go beyond simple phrases and truly dive into the beauty and logic behind our characters and culture.

With a professional background as a social worker and a dedicated Christian, I bring a unique level of patience, empathy, and responsibility to my teaching. I’ve had the privilege of tutoring a diverse range of learners—from primary school children and new immigrants to adults seeking to master interview skills and labour laws. This experience has taught me how to adapt my style to suit any stage of learning.

My approach is highly personalized. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all lessons. I will start by assessing your current level and then curate engaging materials—such as storybooks, current news articles, or literature—to strengthen your vocabulary and sentence structure. Whether you want to polish your writing or sound more natural in daily conversation, I will design customized exercises tailored specifically to your goals.

When I’m not teaching, you’ll likely find me lost in a good book, experimenting in the kitchen, going to parks, listening music or staying informed with global news. I am excited to share the richness of Cantonese with you and support you on your learning journey!
