My lessons are designed for students studying AQA GCSE English starting from Y9. As an A-Level student who achieved Grade 9 in both English Literature and English Language, I have recent and detailed knowledge of the exam structure, mark schemes, and techniques needed to achieve top grades.Lessons focus heavily on essay practice, helping students learn how to structure strong responses and write clearly under exam conditions. I guide students through in-depth analysis of key quotes and themes, and we practise building high-level interpretations together.I specialise in teaching A Christmas Carol, The Merchant of Venice, and the Love and Relationships poetry cluster. I also provide focused support for English Language, particularly essay writing and exam technique.Homework will include structured essay practice and detailed quote/line analysis to strengthen understanding and help students improve consistently. In my lessons, I also focus on helping students understand what examiners are looking for in high-level answers. We will break down example responses, look at how to develop strong arguments, and practise using key terminology and methods effectively in essays. I encourage students to think critically about the texts and to develop their own interpretations while still meeting the requirements of the mark scheme. Each lesson is adapted to the student’s needs and current level, whether they are aiming to pass or achieve the highest grades. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their writing and analysis, and build a strong bond with my student so they will feel confident for their exams in the future.
