Being a good English teacher requires more then just being able to speak the language fluently. You’ll also need a comprehensive knowledge of English grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary, combined with excellent communication skills and that is exactly what I bring. I give my students constructive feedback and I help them to learn from it. I also expect regular feedback from students so I am aware of how my students perceive lessons and to make sure that they are happy. My teaching method is communicative language teaching. This approach aims to put students in a variety of real life situations, so that they can learn how to use their language skills to communicate in the real world. I then tend to focus on fluency of communication rather then accuracy and lessons are more hands on than theoretical. Secondly, my second teaching method is task based language teaching. This focus is solely on the completion of a detailed task which interests and engages the learners. Learners then use the language skills that they already have to complete the task and work through three distinct phases - a pre task, the task itself and post - task. I have learnt that this career does come with challenges. In a class of students from different cultural backgrounds with different ethical ideals, I know that it will pose a challenge to my students, however, I was prepared for it since I’m going to simplify different concepts that suit them best.
