There are different stages to learning Chinese,it depends on what you would like to achieve,some of you choose to speak verbally,which could help them to travel to China and experience things in China,thirty minutes practical speaking routine is given after at least one hour lesson every day through order a meal at a Chinese restaurant or sing a Chinese song,or talk to a Chinese friend.But definitely PIN YIN is the key to pronunciation as PIN YIN is the bridge. Some of you choose to learn as deep as you can to use it in your daily life,however,I breakdown into the following stages as below

1:Foundational Elements:
Pin yin must to be learned ,it helps learners grasp the sounds of Chinese before tacking characters.
2: Tones
Emphasize the importance of tones,as they significantly alter meaning,use mnemonics and audio examples to aid memorization.
3:Characters and Vocabularies are essentials

I had two adults English student once and I used above to teach them, after nearly two years,they spoke well and they lived in ChengDu for 5 years ,they managed their daily life well.
