My basic breakdown for any client is like this:
> Establish your goal Do you need to pass an exam, do you aim to get into higher education, or do you simply wish to achieve a personal goal? Depending on your answer, I'll craft a personalised lesson plan to make sure you can achieve your goal in a timely way and feel confident doing so.
> Assess your strengths Are there any areas of the given subject that you already feel confident in? What are they and what makes them easier for you to engage with? Can we find a way to make difficult topics easier by borrowing from how your preferred topics are taught/explained?
> Find a way to guarantee engagement Where I can, I like to base my lessons around my client's existing interests. I believe people are more likely to retain information if it's been presented to them in a way that's engaging and relevant to them. If the subject is part of a mandatory curriculum, we'll find a way to connect to to something you like -- i.e. we might use a favourite book or transcript to introduce English Literature's soft skills such as reading comprehension and syntax breakdown, then apply it to a broader range of texts. If the goal is more personal, we might discuss where you'd like it to take you in the future.
> Tackle weaknesses in a fun and interesting way My aim is for my clients to keep a sense of enthusiasm and confidence all throughout our learning journey. My lessons will never feel like a slog, and even when things get tough, I'll be able to remind you of that goal we established at the very start in order to keep you motivated towards success!
> Get results My way of working is adaptable. If something I'm doing isn't working for you or you're not happy with the results you're seeing, I'll be more than open to any suggestions you might have. No two learners are unique, but with both of our hard work, we're sure to get results.
