I am a qualified Secondary school Mathematics teacher with over 20 years teaching experience. I am also an experienced Mathematics examiner having been in the exercise since 2005 at a board equivalent to the British GCSE. As a Mathematics classroom practitioner, l enjoy employing child centred approaches during lesson delivery. Such methodologies have included discovery, guided discovery and problem solving. I have also used such methods as guest presentation and group discussion. On rare occasions l have used exposition as a teaching method. I make sure that during lessons, my introduction is brief but captivates the learners. I believe that learners comprehend better if they are given enough space to discover mathematical concepts. My primary role as a teacher is just to facilitate the learning process. I have enjoyed teaching both slow and fast learners with the a lot of patience when teaching the former group. It has been very characteristic of me to motivate my learners through passing encouraging comments for both correct and wrong answers. During my engagement with learners l have often reminded learners why Mathematics is important in today's world especially in the commercial and scientific fields. They also need to be constantly involved in reminded that Mathematics is vital at school level since it helps learners to comprehend other subjects. What comes into mind are subjects such as Accounts, Geography, Building, etc Agriculture and all the Sciences such as Biology, and Physics as well as hematics is easy to teach and to learn given a right frame of mind.
