My lessons are friendly, focused, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I usually begin by identifying your main areas for improvement — whether that’s understanding texts more deeply, writing with more clarity, or improving exam technique. From there, we create a plan together to build your skills and confidence step by step. I understand that every student will need a different approach to help them reach their full potential.

A typical session might include going through a worked example together, breaking down what makes a top-band answer effective, and practising analysis using exam-style questions. We’ll also look at how to approach different question types, improve time management, and tackle the things you find most challenging. I aim to keep lessons interactive and supportive, so you feel comfortable asking questions, testing ideas, and learning from mistakes. Over time, we’ll build not just your ability, but your confidence too.

My lessons are active and engaging — we might annotate a challenging unseen poem together, break down the structure of a complex argument in a persuasive speech, or rewrite parts of an essay to strengthen analysis and clarity. I often use short exercises to target specific skills, like improving topic sentences or embedding quotations more smoothly. We’ll also focus on building strong habits for exams, like planning under timed conditions or prioritising key points in longer responses. Whether you’re aiming for top grades or just looking to feel more in control of English, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
