Currently, I am a bioscience undergraduate at King’s College London and my passion is improving the quality of life for those with health challenges. My personal experience as a student with hearing disability has given me a profound understanding of the importance of accessibility and inclusivity in healthcare and education. Hence, I actively seek out opportunities that allow me to contribute to growth in youth through education and mentorship.
My commitment towards youth education is demonstrated through my experience as a mentor for a middle school student where I provided support in academics, interpersonal needs, and guidance for self-improvement. Through this extensive mentorship, I learned valuable skills such as planning personalised lessons to target my mentee’s weaknesses, providing step-by-step guidance in methods of learning, and communication with students younger than I am. I was able to gain confidence to start being a private English tutor for four students (aged 9-12) both remotely and in-person depending on their style of learning that can lead to the most effective results. Not only was I able to further expand my range of education due to their differing ages, but I was also able to develop challenging curriculums suitable for students of different ages. Currently, I am an online writer, and my content focuses mainly on self-help for teenagers as I aim to support mental health and self-esteem in adolescent development. I have confidence in tutoring Biology, English, and Chinese to which I have extensive experience and knowledge in both teaching methods and of teaching content.
In terms of lessons, activities are often personalised to allow optimal effectiveness in learning as each person has different strengths and weaknesses. These personalisation will continuously be customised to students to maximise comfort and more importantly education.
